Flipgrid has been fully integrated into Passport, eliminating the need to go outside of Passport to create or answer topics. When a teacher creates a class in Passport, a grid is automatically created in a Flipgrid account tied to Passport. Students automatically have a Flipgrid account created when they are registered in Passport.
In Passport, teachers first create a Flipgrid Activity and then assign it to a class or classes. This allows the Flipgrid Activity to appear in student To-Do lists and on their Assignments page with a clear due date, their teacher will receive the video submission on the Class Dashboard to evaluate it, and students can track scores and feedback for their evaluated assignments in Passport. When a Flipgrid activity is created and assigned, a topic is automatically created in the corresponding grid for the classes it is assigned to.
Teachers then have access to their entire Flipgrid for all classes on their Resources page and are able to edit options for each topic.
Creating a Flipgrid Activity allows it to be saved for future use and tagged to the program, level or grade, and unit it is associated with. You can also share your activities with other teachers in your school or district to allow more collaboration.
You can create a Flipgrid Activity from the Assignment Library, or from your Assign Cart if you have already started collecting activities to assign to a class. Some programs have pre-created Flipgrid activities that you can search for and assign.
From the Assignment Library click on Create Activity to begin creating a Flipgrid activity.
You can also create a Flipgrid activity from your Assign Cart by clicking Create.
Both actions bring up the Activity creation window. Click Flipgrid and fill out the form with a Title, select a Level or Grade, Score Possible, a Share With option, and Unit (if desired). In the text box, for Activity Question, type the instructions and prompt. Include as much detail as you like about what you want the students to do and talk about.
You can choose to click Create to simply create and save the Flipgrid Activity to the Assignment Library, or you can click Create & Assign to add it to your Assign Cart and assign the Flipgrid Activity immediately to your students.
If you wish to assign the Flipgrid Activity, see Related Articles for instructions.
