MATHiaFlex has two types of workspaces: Concept Builder workspaces and Mastery workspaces. In Concept Builder workspaces, students engage with a variety of instructional strategies—explore tools, animations, classification tools, and worked examples—to develop their understanding of math concepts. Mastery workspaces provide students with highly individualized and self-paced instruction that adapts to their exact needs to deepen their conceptual understanding of mathematics. While students are working, MATHia collects the number of errors students make, the number of hints they ask for, and the amount of time spent in the workspace.
COMPLETING CONCEPT BUILDER WORKSPACES
- Log in to MATHiaFlex and locate the assignment you wish to complete.
- Hover over the assignment tile to see assignment details. Click the tile to open. Concept Builder workspaces have a building block icon.

- The Concept Builder workspace will open up on your screen.

-
On the right side of the screen, you will input your answers based on the type of problem that is shown. Depending on the problem, you will see:
-
Empty boxes: Input a number or an expression and press enter.
-
Empty boxes with a down arrow: Choose an answer from the dropdown menu.
-
Empty circles: Click the circle next to the answer you think is correct.
- Once you fill in all the answer spaces, click the I’m Done button in the top right corner of the screen to move on to the next problem.

- In the top right corner, there is also a blue bar containing progress rings. A blue ring indicates that you are in the process of completing the problem, a green ring indicates that you have completed the problem, and a grey ring indicates that you have not started the problem. You can view your progress in more detail by clicking on the progress rings.

-
Once you have completed the workspace, you will return to the Assignments tab. To view completed assignments, check the Submitted tab for items that are waiting for your teacher to score them or Evaluated for items that have a score and feedback if entered.
COMPLETING MASTERY WORKSPACES
- Log in to MATHiaFlex and locate the assignment you wish to complete.
- Hover over the assignment tile to see assignment details. Click the tile to open. Mastery workspaces have a star icon.

- The Mastery workspace will open on your screen.
-
Once you enter the workspace, you can either click Skip and go to the problem if you would like to begin the problem immediately or click Begin Step-by-Step Example if you need more clarification or practice with the activity.

- Depending on the assignment, the Mastery workspace will have different options in the table at the bottom of the screen. Choose the action to perform from the table to complete the problem in the correct mathematical order. After choosing an action from the table, an empty box will appear for you to input the number or expression that results from the chosen action. Once you press enter, you may select another action from the table.

- Once you finish performing all the actions necessary to solve the problem, click the I’m Done button in the top right corner of the screen to move on to the next problem.

- In the top right corner, there is also a Skillometer. This feature keeps track of the skills that you are working on based on the answers you choose when completing the problem. A blue ring indicates that you are in the process of mastering the skill, a green ring indicates that you have mastered the skill, and a grey ring indicates that you have not made any progress in mastering the skill. You can click on the Skillometer for an explanation of each skill in more detail.

-
You can complete the workspace when you master all the skills in the workspace (all the rings are green) or when you reach the maximum number of problems in the workspace regardless of mastery.
-
Once you have completed the workspace, you will return to the Assignments tab. To view completed assignments, check the Submitted tab for items that are waiting for your teacher to score them, or Evaluated for items that have a score and feedback if entered.
