Assigning Content

To assign content in MATHiaFlex, you must first have a class created. You may search and filter to find all types of available activities and bundles in the Assignment Library. You may include Concept Builder and Mastery workspaces, Flipgrid activities, your own Custom activities, and Bundles (groups of activities assigned to students as a single item, with one overall score). You choose the activities, order of activities, total point value, and due date. You also have the option to require students to complete activities in the bundle in the order you have determined.

LOCATE AND ASSIGN BUNDLES AND ACTIVITIES

  1. You may access your Content Library at any time. This is the hub for browsing, creating, managing, or assigning activities of all types.
  2. Select MATHiaFlex from the Content Library dropdown menu at the top of your MATHiaFlex screen.
  3. Content in the Content Library is organized in Carnegie Learning’s recommended coherence order by default. You are also able to search for content by keyword, standard domain, or standard code
  4. Once you enter the Content Library, you may browse content by bundles, custom activities, Flipgrid assignments, Mastery Workspaces, MATHia Units, Concept Build Workspaces, or ReadyChecks by checking the corresponding box.

  5. When browsing existing activities to assign to your classes:
    1. Be sure you are on the Assignables tab.
    2. Use the filters to narrow your search parameters:
      1. Type: You may view activities of each type (Concept Builder/Mastery Workspace, Flipgrid, Custom).
*Note: Flipgrid and Custom activities are only available to select once you create them or when other educators from your district or the Passport community create them and allow sharing.
      2. Level: You may view content from multiple levels such as 8th Grade Mathematics and Algebra I.
      3. Authored by: This defaults to content created by Carnegie Learning and you. You may want to add other selections to find activities authored by colleagues or the Passport Community.
      4. Assigned in class (*Coming Soon): These are activities that, at some point, have been assigned to the selected class.

    3. If you wish to see more than 10 items at a time, change the Items per page at the bottom of the page.

  6. Click on a bundle or activity title to view more information including the standards addressed, average completion time, and learning points. From there, you can also launch the workspace or activity to view its contents.
  7. To assign an activity from the Content Library screen, click the plus sign to add the activity to the cart. Once you have added the activity to the cart, the icon will change to a minus sign showing the activity is already in the cart. You may click the minus sign to remove the activity from the cart.
  8. To assign an activity or bundle from the preview page, click the Assign + button in the top right to add it to the cart. Once you have added the activity to the cart, the button will change to Assign - showing that the activity is already in the cart. You may click the Assign - button to remove the activity from the cart.

  9. You may continue to add assignments to the cart using different filter settings and/or searches. Continue doing so until you have all of the activities you want to assign in the cart.
  10. As long as you do not refresh your screen, switch into another program, or leave MATHiaFlex, the activities you select will stay in your cart anchored to the right of your screen.
  11. When you are ready to assign the content in your cart, click on the Assign Cart to open it.
  12. To begin the Assign process, click Assign. If your cart only contains activities, you’ll also have the option to Convert to Bundle.

Selecting Auto-Progress will require students to complete the activities in the bundle in order. Toggle it on if desired. Then, click Next
  14. In Assign Step 2, you will set the Start/Due Date & Time for all assignments. Click the checkbox at the class level to assign the activities to an entire class.  To adjust assignment due dates or language preferences for individual students, click the arrow to expand the class.
